Stay away from these dialing mistakes:

Blocked calls

Once in a while, a service provider will set a newly purchased phone’s international-calling status to “blocked.” You can find this status in Settings and change it anytime. Please be aware that Vonage World®, which is described below, does not suffer from this issue.

Some cell phone numbers won’t have area codes

Many area codes aren’t addable to some international cell phone numbers — most countries usually have a dedicated starting digit for international calling to them.

Look for the trunk code

For international numbers that start with 0, note that the first digit is referred to as the “trunk code” and is dialed only for calls to a small group of nations. Make sure the country you’re calling is one of them or leave the 0 off.

Internet cell phones

Numerous Internet cell phones or VoIP’s have made it possible for you to leave off dialing the 011 exit code when making an international call. If this is true for your provider, do not enter the 011 code.
